Young Volunteers
We have 9 wonderful Young Volunteers aged 12-15 who support our netball groups.
Head Coach: Chrissy Bannerman
Chrissy lives in Andover with her husband and young daughters. Her biggest passion has always been netball and she represented counties at junior and senior level. Chrissy has degrees in Sport Science and is a Level 2 Coach and C Grade Umpire and has been coaching netball and swimming for over 20 years. Chrissy also tutors coaching courses as an England Netball Tutor and is an Athlete Identifier and Umpire Assessor.
Chrissy has coached in many community clubs and programmes and in performance clubs at junior regional and national competition and senior Premier League competition. Chrissy is in her twelfth season as a County Coach and is the Head Coach for Hampshire U13. Previously, she coached Surrey Storm NPL and Aspire.
Head Coach: Sharon Duffield
Sharon lives in Andover with her husband Christian and two daughters, Savannah and Penelope, aged 11 and 7. Savannah is a key member of Gemini and loves playing netball, Penelope has caught the netball bug too and is loving her Bee Netball! Sharon and Christian are Foster carers and are privileged to also have an incredible boy that has become part of their family also.
Sport has always been a big part of Sharon’s life. She has enjoyed competing in many sports over the years from waterpolo and swimming to athletics but her biggest passion has always been netball. Sharon proudly played netball to County level and currently plays in her local league. Sharon holds the Level 2 Netball Coaching Award and C Grade Umpire Award.
Sharon is also a Level 2 qualified swimming teacher. She currently teaches across a range of settings and has been a Swimming Teacher for Waterbabies for 11 years and loves helping the babies and children develop and increase in confidence whilst they are learning a life saving skill.
Head Coach: Laura Ellis
Laura lives in Durrington with her husband John and daughters. Laura works in the NHS and enjoys sports.
Laura has played netball from primary school age in many different teams and leagues in the south and south west. Laura has represented school team, a Plymouth schools team from schools across the area, ladies teams as well as for the West Devon county team in U16, U18 and U21 age groups.
Laura is a qualified Level 2 netball coach and C grade umpire. As well as coaching for Gemini Laura has also coached for 2 years in the Surrey Storm Aspire netball programme. Laura has always had a love for netball and jumped at the chance to get involved with Gemini to hopefully ensure players have the same experiences through playing a great game, becoming part of a team and making a different circle of friends that she did.
Coach: Michelle Ellis
Michelle lives in Andover with her husband Matt and two children Macy & Freddie. Michelle has loved netball since primary school, mostly playing in Centre & WD positions. She even got to compete in the school team two years above her at secondary school.
Travelling, work & family life have taken priority in her adult years so Michelle thought volunteering with Gemini would be the perfect opportunity to make time for this fab sport again whilst supporting Gemini and the fantastic local club that it is!
Michelle has been volunteering with Gemini for 4 years. As well as helping at training sessions, Michelle is the Team Manager for the U14s group and also on the committee as our Membership Secretary.
Coach: Claire Reid
Claire lives in Andover with her husband and 2 children, Lilya and Alistair.
Claire played netball competitively up until last year. She enjoys being active and alongside her own fitness, Claire coaches and runs a local football team.
Coach: Carly McManus
Carly lives in Andover with her husband Neil and two children Skyla and Kai. Carly has always loved netball since Primary School and currently play in both the Andover Netball and Play Netball Andover League. Her positions on court are GK and GD.
Carly’s Daughter has been involved in Gemini Netball for a number of years and she wants to support her and others to enjoy the game, make friends and be the best they can be. As well as supporting training, Carly is looking forward to taking on the role of U13 Competitive Team Manager for the new season.
Coach: Tracy Summers
Tracy likes to be active and enjoys going to the gym and going out running. She also enjoys netball training and playing in the Andover League.
Tracy loves being able to share a sport with her daughter Evie who plays for Gemini. She is enjoying supporting training sessions and is working towards her Level 1 Coaching award.
Coach: Jo Leigh
Jo enjoys family life locally in Andover, and is usually happiest when walking the dog in a forest or on the beach, whilst sipping tea watching the view from her campervan. Her family are fond of playing racket sports such as tennis and badminton alongside swimming trips.
Jo personally has a love for Netball but only recently rejoined playing after injury some eight years ago. She is best played in a defence role as Goal Keeper or at times Goal Shooter. This is her first role as a coach and she is working towards her Level 1 qualification with England Netball.
Coach: Hannah Carter
Hannah lives in Andover with her husband Russell, and daughter Molly. She has been playing netball for over 20 years and currently plays for Transplus Tigers in both Andover and the Hampshire league. Main position being goal attack or shooter.
Hannah’s daughter Molly is looking forward to starting netball and joining the Gemini family in September.
